Historically, Rendon, TX was called the Crossroads Community. Its name is derived from Spanish-Mexican resident Joaquin, who held the area’s first land grant. His survey is still located in southeast Tarrant County today. The city grew around the property of WL. In the early 1900s, Rendon had three flour mills, two guns, a blacksmith, and a general store. In 1897, W.L. Norwood sold three acres for a schoolhouse site, and in 1898, the oldest marked stone in the city’s cemetery dates to 1882. In the early 1900s, “singing schools” were held at the church, which remained there for two years. In 1911, the town received a two-room school. In 1945, the Baptist Church was organized, and in 1950, Rendon had a population of twenty-five.

During the early twentieth century, the residents of Rendon reorganized a volunteer fire department. Men fought fires, women answered calls, drove trucks, and held fund drives. The cotton gins made Retta more prosperous than Rendon. Cotton was picked up at the flag station in Retta. In the past, all activities in the city were community-related. In the present, the population is still growing, and it’s one of the fastest-growing areas in the county.
