Cedar Hill Texas is a city in Dallas and Ellis counties. The population of 45,028 was recorded at the 2010 census. It is located about 16 miles southwest of downtown Dallas along the eastern shore of Joe Pool Lake, near Cedar Hills State Park. In 2011, the city’s population was 58,638. During the late 1800s, Cedar Hill served as the temporary county seat of Dallas County, and was a prominent site of the logging industry. Located on a branch of the Chisholm Trail, Cedar is home to endangered birds and a hot, humid climate. In 1856, a tornado destroyed the town, killing nine people and damaging most of its buildings. As of 2000, there were seventy-six businesses in Cedar Hill, which is considered the “hill country of Dallas.” The area has an Austin-like topography and a charming Downtown square. There are plenty of outdoor activities in Cedarhill. The town was once the home to the famous Bonnie and Clyde sidekick Raymond Hamilton, and now has several coffee shops, including White Rhino Coffee House. The City of Arlington is one of the largest in the Metroplex.
